Robert J. Giroux Scholarship

**SCHOLARSHIP OPEN TO DEPENDENTS OF UNIVERSITIES CANADA EMPLOYEES ONLY**

            Robert J. Giroux was the President of Universities Canada from 1995 to 2004, a period of unparalleled success for the association and its member institutions. During his time as President, Mr. Giroux established a scholarship program for the children and grandchildren of Universities Canada employees. This scholarship program was named after him at the time of his retirement from Universities Canada, in March 2004. Before coming to Universities Canada, Robert J. Giroux was one of Canada’s leading public servants. He is a graduate of the University of Ottawa and a member of the Order of Canada.

As an expression of Universities Canada’s belief in higher education and to show our commitment to the children, and grandchildren of its employees, Universities Canada provides the Robert J. Giroux scholarship program to assist students in attaining academic excellence.

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be the dependent child or grandchild of an active employee of Universities Canada entitled to benefits, who has completed 1 or more continuous years of service as of the application deadline date. Dependent children are described as biological or legally adopted children, wards in legal guardianship and stepchildren;
  • Be entering or already enrolled in full-time studies in a first bachelor degree program or first diploma program;
  • Have a minimum average of 70% (or equivalent) over the last 3 terms of available marks*. Non-academic courses such as career or personal development related courses will not be considered.
