The Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowship provides financial support for eligible scholars in any academic discipline to conduct research at seven institutions in Israel. The program provides awardees opportunities for professional mentorship, interdisciplinary exchange, leadership training and a growing alumni program to develop academic leaders who will promote academic and professional links between Israel and the rest of the world. The fellowship is open to:
1. Canadian citizens who have obtained their PhD degree at a recognized Canadian OR International university
2. Citizens of any nationality who have obtained their PhD degree at a recognized Canadian university
Applicants must have received their PhD diploma no more than 4 years prior to the application date, with allowances for interruptions such as parental leave. Current PhD candidates will be required to submit official documentation indicating a thesis defence date that is no later than June 30, 2020. All applicants are required to have a sponsor who is a faculty member at one of the eligible Israeli institutions, and who will confirm the suitability of the candidate for the proposed research.
The fellowships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and independent research ability. Candidates are assessed on their potential to make cutting-edge contributions to their respective fields. Leadership abilities and community engagement are an important consideration. Applications are evaluated without regard to religion, gender, ethnicity or age. Fellows will receive a one-year stipend of ILS 145,000, with the possibility for renewal after evaluation.
